The otter is named Pacino (after Al Pacino) because he has a scar on his head. He used a tree to get in and out of the water. His wife, Makena, might be pregnant, so she is kept away from the water to prevent her from giving birth at night in the water and having her babies drown.

Keepers sometimes teach animals behaviors. When the animal sees any keeper, they repeat the behavior, assuming they will get a treat. Tracy had taken care of Pacino for three years back when he came to the zoo in 2001. Pacino put on a show for us, revolving as he swam.
