We landed in Shannon Ireland in the morning and set out for Bunratty Castle and Folk Park. Once there, we headed straight for the tearoom to get some coffee to drink while we walked. About half an hour later, we again stopped at the tearoom, this time for a little snack. By the end of our visit, we were like "Norm" of the tearoom.
Next we checked into our B & B, showered and headed out to lunch. We got our drinks and Robyne raised her first pint of Irish Guinness in a toast, "We're in Guinness!" Do I need to point out we were low on sleep? For the rest of the trip, in support of Robyne, we called Ireland, Guinness. "We're in Guinness" became "the" phrase of the trip.
No rest for the weary. After lunch we headed to the Cliffs of Moher. We started hiking along the cliffs, timing our hike so we would be able to catch the sunset, but wouldn't have to hike back in the dark. We were "told" that sunset was at 6:30. 6:00 came and went, but the sun still looked suspiciously high in the sky. At 6:30, we were pretty close to the parking area, so we planted ourselves and patiently waited for the glorious sunset. 6:30 came and went. At 6:45 we decided that the sun obviously never sets at the Cliffs of Moher (so much for patience) and left.
Since fatigue was reigning strong, we decided to find a pub near our B & B. We had a small bite to eat, and then out came the cards for some more Basara. As the drinks and the night wore on, we decided that keeping score was too much of a burden, so we invented a new game Basara-Basara where instead of trying to prevent other players from getting a Basara, you try to give people Basaras. Maybe you had to be there.
